Astro’s Adventures Book Club: From Fiction to Non-Fiction

Everyone who has written and published a book will know how difficult it can be to make sales.

Regardless of how well the book is written and produced, there is so much competition it is hard to get noticed.

Susan Day, the author of the Astro’s Adventures children’s books, has faced the same problems as many authors. She has been writing and illustrating books for seven years, and although applauded by critics and reviewers, the books have not sold well.

Thinking Outside the Box

Susan is also a grandmother who shares her love of reading and books with her grandchildren. After

completing the 12 th book in the series, Susan hit upon a novel an idea.

She has decided to market her book to grandparents, one book at a time. After all there are 12 months

in the year and she had 12 books published.

Susan is also a blogger and website developer so she created a website dedicated to selling her books on a monthly subscription basis. She creates blog posts which offers grandparents tips and advice on how to build a long lasting relationship with their grandchildren.

Supporting Other Children’s Authors

Susan’s site is not just about her books either. To support other children’s authors she created the

Children’s Author Spotlight which showcases new and exciting books for children.

While this project is only about six months old, it has lead Susan further to discover a new passion.

While blogging about how the role of grandparenting, and the how it has changed, she hit upon the idea to help grandparents even further by writing a non-fiction book.

Fiction lead to Non-Fiction

The book is called, The Top 10 Things Happy Grandparents Never Regret Doing, and it empowers

grandparents to take control of their relationship with their grandchildren, looking at ways they can

make a positive impact as mentors and role models.

This new book is still at the manuscript stage and not ready for purchase. However, it is shaping up to be an informative tool which all grandparents can use.

What an interesting journey! From fiction books to book subscription services to a non-fiction book – it just goes to show you what can happen if you think outside the box.
